Sunday Sounds: The Kitchen Club

Welcome to Sunday Sounds! Every other Sunday I’ll be posting an interview with a new artist or band, asking them about their music and their journey so far. This week I spoke to Ed from The Kitchen Club about how they started out and about their debut track, ‘Downside Up’ that was released in October 2020.

Where are you from?

We are dotted all around Buckinghamshire where most of us have lived our whole life and currently where we get most of our gigs, or got should I say in pre-covid times!

How long have you been doing music for?

We formed the band in April 2019 so just a little over a year now we’ve been together and it’s kinda taken us that long to find our sound and to have the chemistry that we do right now on stage and off.

How would you describe the music you make?

The music that we make aims to be a blend of funk and jazz with modern sounds incorporated into that, we’re influenced by artists like Tom Misch, John Mayer and The 1975.

New track/EP/Single coming out/ just come out?

We recently released a new single called ‘Downside Up’ in October which is on all streaming platforms, it’s a song we wrote early last year so it’s what we sounded like at the beginning of our journey so the new stuff that is on its way will be quite different to that, I believe.
