Rock of Ages is over two and a half hours of back to back 80s rock classics.
The live band were fantastic, belting out numbers like We Built This City by Starship, Europe’s The Final Countdown and Here I Go Again by Whitesnake.
Set in the 80s in live music venue The Bourbon Club on LA’s Sunset Strip, everyone is waiting for their big break. Drew is cleaning the toilets while hoping to become a rock star and win the heart of wannabe actress Sherrie who has also caught the eye of self-centred singer Stacee Jaxx, played by Strictly’s Kevin Clifton.
The cast as a whole have brilliant comic timing; notable performers include Rhiannon Chesterman as Regina, the city planner turned protest-spearhead who galvanises the inhabitants of the Strip to fight back against the demolition of their historic home. Franz Klinemann, played by Andrew Carthy, has everyone in stitches with his camp rendition of Hit Me With Your Best Shot, and Kevin Kennedy as Bourbon Room owner, Dennis, completes a fantastic comedy duo with Lucas Rush.
Rock of Ages is running at the Mayflower Theatre, Southampton until the 20th July.
